When you look at vintage cookie jars its hard not to suddenly find a grin on your face. These little biscuit jars that have been around since the late 18th century whisper of another time from the Great Depression and first World War. The simplest cookie jars were made in glass with a metal lid, while others were hand painted, and others still became quite fanciful.

Poodle Cookie Jars – Both Vintage and Newer are a popular collectible item with poodle lovers and poodle collectors. There are many people who collect Poodle Collectibles. These are also wonderful to store your favorite Poodle’s treats on your kitchen counter! There is a nice selection of both Vintage and Newer Cookie Jars with Poodles.

American Bisque – one of the most popular and collected vintage cookie jar manufacturers (from 1930 through 1973) – made a French Poodle Cookie Jar in Burgandy and also in Blue. These cookie jars are 10″ tall and are probably the most valuable of the Poodle Jars.

There are many unmarked/unsigned Vintage Poodle Cookie Jars available. Generally items that aren’t signed or marked by the manufacturer are less expensive.

There are also a large variety of Cookie Jars with (and for?) Poodles that are newer and that are available at retail outlets.

In the last 30 days, 182 American Bisque Cookie Jars have been listed on eBay. They had a 49.45% sell rate, with an average selling price of $58.96. Here are the highest priced American Bisque Cookie Jars sold on eBay over the last 30 days.

This 1960s Casper Cookie Jar was the highest priced sold over the last 30 days. It sold for $420 after receiving 37 bids.

This 1950s Rocket Ship Cookie Jar sold for $207.05 and received 18 bids.

The next two highest priced jars were identical Tortoise and Hare Flasher Jars. The seller of this one stated that they are called flasher jars because the face changes depending on the angle you look at it.

One sold for $153.50 and received 6 bids and the other sold (in less than 3 hours) for a “Buy It Now” of $150.

This Flintstones “The Rubbles House” Cookie Jar also sold (in less than 24 hours) for a “Buy It Now” of $150.00.

This Girl Pig Cookie Jar with a Red Shamrock and Skirt sold for $125.49 after receiving 12 bids.

This Yarn Doll Cookie Jar sold for a “Buy It Now” of $120.

Another pig, this one is a 1940s Polka Dot Pig and he sold for $114.06 and received 3 bids.

Vintage McCoy Cookie Jars

Vintage McCoy Cookie Jars are among the most collected Vintage Cookie Jars. The Nelson McCoy company began making them in the late 1930s, From the 1930s through the 1980s hundreds of McCoy Cookie jars were produced in a very wide range of styles and designs.

While some McCoy Cookie Jars are rare and very valuable, there is a large variety of them that can be affordably obtained and collected.

What I love about McCoy Cookie Jars is how they managed to capture the era through the years. When I look at the Snoopy Cookie Jar, I immediately think of and remember the late 1960s and my childhood. The bright yellow smiley face cookie jar reminds me instantly of the 1970s. If you are over 40, you will not be able to look at McCoy Cookie Jars without a great deal of nostalgia – which is one of the main reasons they are so popular with collectors today.

Depression Glass Cookie Jars

Depression Glass was inexpensive, mostly machine made, glass in the depression era. It was given away as premiums (in oatmeal, flour, at the gas station, etc.) or sold cheaply at the five and ten cent stores. In addition to clear, many depression glass items were also made in colors. Pink and Green are typically the most common colors – although there is a wide range of colors across all of the patterns.

Many Depression Glass patterns included Cookie Jars – many of these vintage Cookie Jars among the hardest to find and therefore most valuable items in a particular pattern or color.

Some Vintage Depression Glass Cookie Jars sell for hundreds – The Green 1931-1937 Mayfair Open Rose Cookie Jar pictured above sold for $565.55 – many are very affordable.

American Bisque Vintage Cookie Jars

American Bisque Vintage Cookie Jars were made from 1930 through 1973. The company was located in Williamstown, West Virginia and was in operation from 1919 until 1982. The Allen family owned and operated the company from 1922 to 1982. The company originally produced Kewpie doll heads. In addition to Cookie Jars, they also made lamps, planters, vases and novelties.

Most of the cookie jars have a whimsical design and many can be very affordably obtained, although some of the rarer items can get a little pricey.

Many American Bisque Cookie Jars have a large wedge shapes on the bottom. Some are marked with U.S.A. and sometimes with the mold number is on the bottom. Many of them have unglazed feet on the bottom.

This Brush Little Boy Blue cookie jar was the highest priced cookie jar sold over the last month. It received 25 bids and ended with a selling price of $1,076.57.

This McCoy StageCoach Cookie Jar received 22 bids and sold for $1,025.

Selling for $876, this 1979 Glenn Appleman Packard Hardtop Cookie Jar was the next highest priced item. It received 16 bids.

This Red Wing Sponge Band Cookie Jar sold with a “Buy It Now” of $875.

This Glenn Appleman 1958 White Corvette Cookie Jar sold in less than 24 hours with a “Buy It Now” of $825.

This Shawnee Smiling Pig Cookie Jar sold for $760.01 after receiving 33 bids.
